Deep in the night when all was quiet, Ma Ling stood in silence by the window thinking about a conversation she had had with a church leader that day.

     Introduction

     Zheng Yi is a Christian.       "Kid! Do you know that the Communist Party is atheist and against belief in God? In China, what God is there for you to believe in? Where is this God of yours?" "Do not assume that because you are young, we will be lenient with you! If you keep believing in God, you will end up dead!" With electric rods in hands, the Chinese Communist police rush this youngster who is covered with bruises.

    This youngster's name is Gao Liang and he was 17 years old that year. He was on his way home from spreading the gospel with an older brother when he was arrested by the Chinese Communist police. The police did not give him anything to eat nor allowed him to sleep for three days and three nights. They interrogated him, tried to extort a confession from him and subjected him to cruel torture. They even used electric rods to shock him on his chin, both his hands and his lower area. They tried to force him to betray God and give them information regarding the church leaders and the financial resources of the church through blackmailing him. This involved threatening to arrest his parents and to get his school to expel him. Unable to achieve its objectives, the Chinese Communist government sentenced him to one year of reeducation through labor. While in prison, not only did Gao Liang endure excessive labor requirements, he was also humiliated and tormented. In the prison, Gao Liang experienced what can only be called hell on earth. During this painful refinement, Gao Liang prayed to God and relied on God. Almighty God's words enlightened him to understand God's intentions. It gave him faith and strength and it guided him so that he could get through the one year he was in prison. The Chinese Communist government's persecution and arrest are engraved in Gao Liang's heart. He sees clearly and deeply experienced the evil essence of the Chinese Communist government and its antagonism toward God. In this world where Satan's powers hold sway, only God loves man the most. Only God can save man. His faith and will to follow God became even more resolute. Gao Liang says that these trials and tribulations are valuable treasures for his life growth and development. It was a special present that God gave him for his 17th year …

Introduction

Each time God becomes flesh and appears to do His work, Satan's evil forces savagely defy and condemn the true way. In this way, war arises within the spiritual world which divides and exposes the religious world. The Lord Jesus said, "Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword" (Matthew 10:34). When the Lord Jesus appeared and worked in the Age of Grace, Judaism split into many factions. Now with the appearance and work of Almighty God in the last days, the religious world is subjected to a great exposing; the wheat and the tares, the sheep and the goats, the wise virgins and the foolish virgins, and the good servants and bad servants—all are exposed, each to their own kind. God's wisdom and wonders truly are unfathomable!

Many people seek and investigate the true way without basing these actions on the words and work of God. Instead, they follow the trends of the religious world and they believe that which the Chinese Communist government and the religious world condemn is not the true way—is this the right path to take? The Bible says, "the whole world lies in wickedness" (1 John 5:19). "This is an evil generation" (Luke 11:29). Thus it can be seen that atheistic political regimes and the religious world will certainly reject and condemn the true way. When the Lord Jesus did His work in the Age of Grace, the Jews and the Roman government frantically opposed and convicted Him, and in the end the Lord Jesus was nailed to the cross. Are these not the facts of the situation? When Almighty God comes to do His work in the last days, He suffers the wild defiance and condemnation of the Chinese government and the religious world. What does this show? Is it not worth us reflecting on this?

The Lord Jesus once reprimanded the Pharisees with these words, "Search the scriptures; for in them you think you have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. And you will not come to me, that you might have life" (John 5:39-40). The Bible is merely a testimony of God, but it does not contain eternal life. Only God is the truth, the way and the life. In that case, how do we look at the Bible in a way that accords with the Lord's will?

Many people believe that a belief in God is a belief in the Bible, and that working painstakingly for the Lord is the reality of believing in God. No one in the religious world is able to thoroughly understand what true faith in God means. Almighty God says, "'Belief in God' means believing that there is a God; this is the simplest concept of faith in God. What's more, believing that there is a God is not the same as truly believing in God; rather, it is a kind of simple faith with strong religious overtones. True faith in God means experiencing the words and work of God based on a belief that God holds sovereignty over all things. So you shall be freed of your corrupt disposition, shall fulfill the desire of God, and shall come to know God. Only through such a journey can you be said to believe in God" (The Word Appears in the Flesh).

Eastern Lightning, The Church of Almighty God was created because of the appearance and work of Almighty God, the second coming of the Lord Jesus, Christ of the last days. It is made up of all those who accept Almighty God's work in the last days and are conquered and saved by His words. It was entirely founded by Almighty God personally and is led by Him as the Shepherd. It was definitely not created by a person. Christ is the truth, the way, and the life. God's sheep hear God's voice. As long as you read the words of Almighty God, you will see God has appeared.

   Yu Congguang preaches the gospel for the Church of Almighty God. While preaching the gospel, he was pursued by the Chinese Communist government. He fled to the mountains, where he received help from Zheng Xun, a co-worker of the local house church. When they first met each other, they felt like they had already known each other for a long time. Zheng Xun took Yu Congguang to the thatched shack where he and his co-workers gathered. There, a debate unfolded among Zheng Xun and his co-workers over whether or not a believer in God should obey those in power. Yu Congguang gave fellowship in light of this issue and dispelled their confusion. Yu Congguang's fellowship was extremely helpful to them, and they all began to seek out and study Almighty God's work of the last days. However, when Elder Sun from the local church learned that Yu Congguang was a witness from the Church of Almighty God, he did everything he possibly could to seal off the church and prevent the followers from seeking out the true way. Sun went door-to-door looking for Yu Congguang, and even mobilized the followers to report Yu to the police and arrest him …
