Why Did the Lord Jesus Pray to God of Heaven Since He Is God?

We all know that the Lord Jesus was incarnated and performed the redemptive work, and all who believe in the Lord affirm that the Lord Jesus is the Savior. However, the Bible records that after the Lord Jesus was baptized, the heaven was opened, and the Holy Spiritdescended upon the Lord Jesus like a dove, a voice said: “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased” (Matthew 3:17). This is the Holy Spirit bearing witness that the Lord Jesus is God’s beloved Son. Besides, the Lord Jesus prayed before the crucifixion, saying: “O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as you will” (Matthew 26:39). These all prove that the Lord Jesus is clearly God’s Son. So, here is the question: Is the Lord Jesus really God or the Son of God? If He is God, then why did He pray to God of heaven?

The Church of Almighty God | Living abroad, we are quite busy with our work and with things at home and sometimes we don’t have time to read God’s words or attend meetings. I feel that this is not putting God first, however, and I feel in my heart that I owe God. I’d like to ask how we can find a better balance between our work, our families and seeking the truth?

Bible Verses for Reference:

For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? (Mak 8:36-37).

And he said to his disciples, Therefore I say to you, Take no thought for your life, what you shall eat; neither for the body, what you shall put on. The life is more than meat, and the body is more than raiment (Luk 12:22-23).

The Church of Almighty God | Hymn | A Lament for a Tragic World

• A Lament for a Tragic World
• I
Drifting through time, passing life.
The years turn like a dream.
Rushing around for fame and wealth.
Lives spent for things of flesh.
Nothing has been given to the truth.
Days, months, and years
just pass like this.
No thought of God's own sufferings
or His great loveliness.
Just idly passing empty days.
Not one day lived for God.
Never cause God's lips to smile.
Hollow and nothing special.
Who has understood God's heart?
Who can share with God
life and death?
Who has treasured all His words?
Who has devoted to God their all?
When will spring flowers
pause their blooming?
True love is here in this world.
Sorrow and joy, ups and downs.
Circle of seasons, going on and on.
God's been forsaken year after year.
What a tragic world!

Worship God in Spirit and in Truth | Christian Worship Song | "The Significance of Prayer"

Introduction

I

Prayer is one of the ways how man cooperates with God, to call upon His Spirit and to be touched by God. The more you pray, the more you'll be touched, enlightened and strong-minded. People as such can be made perfect soon. The more you pray, the more you'll be touched, enlightened and strong-minded. People as such can be made perfect soon.

Testimonies of Returning to God

The Loss and Gain of Gatherings

Guozi    USA

My name is Guozi, and I’m a high school student studying abroad in the USA. I was born in a Christian family, and my mother accepted the work of Almighty God in the last days when I was one year old. I remember when I was very young that my mother would always say to me: “God created heavens, earth, and everything that exists. We humans were also created by God, and God loves us more than anything. Whenever something happens to you, remember to pray to Almighty God, and He will watch over and protect you.” So when I was very young I learned that God exists, and when anything happened to me and I prayed to God, I experienced God’s protection for me. But truly having knowledge of God and God’s work was something I gradually gained in the course of attending gatherings and fellowshiping about the truth together with brothers and sisters of the Church of Almighty God and practicing entering into the word of God …
